Afterthoughts and Future Plans

About This Fangame
This fangame project started by the end of February, took about three months to come together. I started this project with a lot more content in mind, including:
- A Warframe guide with modding simulator
- Longer stories- Spend a full year with your partner
Looking back, these ideas are kinda insane, considering that 3 stories for 1 protoframe cost me 3 months to complete. Of course, now the basic structure is complete, the other protoframes' routes will surely be easier to create, but all I want to do now is to play games. After dropping Expedition 33, Blue Prince and even Warframe to lock in on this project for a whole month, I feel like I am at the finish line of a marathon. Whatever I am doing next, I need to take a breather first.
Game development-wise, I used this chance to greatly improve my dialogue system. The dialogue system I used in last year's game jam was tedious, this time I am using an easier method to store and display dialogues. It can still use some enhancement but for this project it's decent.
Also, I was going to name this project "The KIM demake" but I noticed most demake projects were meant to use restrictions on older consoles. This name sounds so right but I think it's better to change it. Alas.
Thoughts on Warframe 1999
On Arthur's Characteristics
I think it goes without saying that this fangame is a love Letter (of some sorts) to Warframe 1999. I like Arthur because I see myself in him: just as Quincy said, he thought too much of himself. He promised himself to protect Eleanor forever, but from what we saw in the story, it was usually the other way around. He cared about Aoi, but whatever plans he had for their relationship never made her happy.
The more Arthur tried to take care of people around him, the more he lost. As a result, he became very bitter and moody, being in the military only made his problems ten times worst. So when I reached a certain part in his chat, I wasn't angry at him at all; I knew that feeling too well.
And Quincy is also right about Arthur being a goofy guy in private. Writing his best friend route is quite difficult because this man keeps a lot to himself. I saw some tenno who didn't romance Arthur discussed their impressions on him, and yep, Arthur is such a hard nut to crack. Why do I even like this weird guy. (I can't help it)
Warframe 1999 as a Whole
When it comes to Warframe 1999 as a whole, personally I like protoframes because I like warframes. I see the protofwends as a different aspect of the warframes I like, even if some of them are different from my expectations, I am confident that DE wouldn't miss i.e. I will always see my favourite frames' traits in every protoframe. The real issue is how much effort and time it takes to push out all the protoframe related updates.
By working on this fangame, I had a taste of how exhausting it would be to work on a portion of Warframe 1999's content. I cannot imagine working with a team, which involves communication (Sol and Lua) and everyone also has different limits when it comes to working on a project, plus ideas on how and what this update should be. Who a protoframe should be. Among all the existing protoframes, I think Flare and Lizzie were a pair of challenging attempt, and the fact that DE did a decent job delivering complicated characters as them deserves so much respect.
As much as I hope to see more protofwends coming out, my first and foremost concern is that overall, it requires more effort to design a convincing protoframe than a normal warframe. As I've stated above, there's also a limited time for most people to work on a single project without distracting themselves. There's also a possibility that I'd hate to take into consideration, which is some people are reacting negatively towards the existence of protoframes. I fear that this ended up making DE disheartened.
Which contributes to the birth of this fangame: I have made it my mission to stand by all that is forsaken. It's not because I am a hero; I simply cannot bear to see a repeat of what happened to me.
Future Plans
I am going to take at least a month's break from making games. Sol and Lua, I am bushed.
Protoframe Fanfics
I need to finish the Flare fic I am working on...... Also the sesbian lex(tm) reading club, we need more protofriend yuri content. I also have a silly idea of Velimir and Minerva playing a silly detective game to find out who is the Drifter's spouse. It should take a few months to write everything out.
Improve My Skills
So you might be noticing the lack of audio in my game. It's because I just can't match DE's quality of audio and music production, for I don't have a lot of experience in this field. Aside from that, I also want to improve my art skill, learn 3D and shaders.
Games!
Games :3✨
For people who might want an update on this game: At some point, I was working on Aoi's portrait to test the art style, but I feel drained after finishing Arthur's route so it might take a few months before I start working on another route. If I ever come back to this project, that is.
Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy this silly game!
